The Duck River Baptist Association continues to minister to the inmates at the Franklin County Jail through the volunteer efforts of Ann German, Debbie Deboard, Nancy Albaugh, and myself. Scott Chitwood assists as time permits.
We now have two men from Grace, Tullahoma, Phil Marty and Jasiel Wilmoth, starting a ministry in the Coffee County Jail. Praise God for that! A special thanks goes out to all our faithful servants.
We had seven persons to be baptized at the Franklin County Jail in May of this year. Three of these dear souls were the result of our ministry. They were given Certificates of Baptism and copies of “Beginning Steps For New Converts” by Mrs. Ann German. She also got it arranged for the inmates to take communion at the time of their baptism. I think this was a first at the jail. We had another young lady led to the Lord by Mrs. Debbie Deboard and two more ladies won to the Lord by Amanda, one of my weekly Bible students. Praise God for her growth as a Christian.
Because of the support of the association, we continue to provide Bibles, underwear, socks, paper and envelopes when needed, study material , and (on occasion) a good Christian book. We also had some books donated by the folks at Grace, Tullahoma. One individual donated the entire “Left Behind” series.
Mrs. Ann German, our voulunteer jail Chaplain, continues to minister to the inmates as she has opportunity. She has arranged several meetings with Sherriff Fuller and some of his staff. They inform us of needs and keep us updated on the new programs being offered since we have The Re-entry Program in place. Many of the inmates have started “The Crossroad Bible Studies” through The Crossroad Bible Institute. The study includes 3 Tiers. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, please contact Mrs. German or me.
A special “thank you” goes out to all of the WMU ladies who helped provide snacks for the inmates at Christmas, Easter, Independence Day, Halloween and at other times as we are permitted to provide snacks. These are the only times the inmates get sweets and we always include scripture verses with their treats. First, Decherd, First, Estill Springs and Winchester, First all helped with the snacks. Also, “thank you” to Decherd WMU which continues to provide stamps for inmates.
Any assistance with this ministry would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and may God bless each of you!
Serving in His Name,
Ellen Mann
