Resort Ministry

The Resort Ministry is a unique way to reach out to those who come into our area for the enjoyment of Tim’s Ford Lake. Worship services are held on Sunday mornings for campers at the Fairview/Devils Step Campground and Tims Ford State Park. The services are “come as you are” and offer people a chance to hear the gospel in a non-threatening environment. It is a great opportunity for a church to get involved in missions as each weekend over 500 people stay at the campgrounds. The ministry relies on volunteers from churches within the Duck River Baptist Association.

For the second straight year Jason Curtis of First Baptist Church Cowan, spent the summer as the Camp Pastor at Fairview/Devils Step. His wife Laura helped him each and every Sunday with the services there by providing an age appropriate Bible story and activities for the children who come. Reba Merriman of Grace Baptist Church also blessed the ministry as she led the music during the services. Attendance varied throughout the summer, but many weeks they had as many as twelve campers.

The services at Tim’s Ford State Park were in a rebuilding phase this year. We held services there around the high traffic times of the summer, such as July 4 and Labor Day. Currently we are working to revamp things to better reach out to the campers at this location. Join us in prayer as we explore the possibility of moving the service to a central location inside the camping area.
